How To Organize A Fundraising Event

How To Organize A Fundraising Event

First thing you want to do when organizing a fundraising event is to set your fundraising goal. Whether you are using the money for administrative purposes, or need to raise much needed funds to pay for new uniforms, you need to set a goal.

The next step is to choose your fundraising product or program. This is where you need to think about the members in your group. What are their interest and what would they be comfortable selling? The best one to choose is the one that the members will be passionate selling. There are a ton of programs and products out there. Think of your demographics and choose the one that is the best fit for the group. Once you have chosen one then its time to set your deadline for your fundraiser. Unless you are involved in ongoing fundraising, you should have a set deadline to raise the money. Give your sellers the deadline and stick to it. Fundraisers are the most successful when they have a finite deadline.

The final step is to set a date and location of your fundraising event. Make sure there are no other big events happening in your community once you have a set date. Spread the word to all the local business establishments and ask them if you put some fliers out advertising your event. You can also see if the local radio station will donate some free time to your group. Remember to spread the word about your fundraiser through family, co-workers, friends, neighbors, etc.  Read more on Fundraising ideas
